Thiruvellarai Divyadesam Pankajavalli Samedha Pundareekaksha Perumal Blessing in HIS Standing Posture Facing East
Thiruvellarai Divyadesam Trichy   Thiruvellarai Divyadesam   Thiruvellarai Trichy

The Legend of Thiruvellarai Pankajavalli Thayar samedha Pundarikatsha Perumal Temple - Vellarai means white rock. Since, this tmple is situated 100 feet high in the top of the small mountain, which is white in colour called as Thiru Vellarai. The wall around this temple is very big and covering the entire area of the temple premise which has 7 temple theerthams. ALMIGHTY here is referred to Vedas, which is referred to white colour gives seva along with Thamarai Selvi Periya Pirattiyar in Nindra Sevai. Sreeman Narayanan is blessing dharshan to all living and non living things as Sooriya Narayanan. By extending HIS rays, he is giving security to the entire world. Sura Narayanan is the person who is making all the plants grow, maks to rain, calulating all the living things Jeevathmas' Paapams ( The Sins ) and Punniyams ( The Good Things ). He is revolving around the Earth to make good things happen and to destroy the bad things. Based on the revolving time of the sun only the good time and all Subha Muhurthams are being calculated.

The sun is revolving round the Earth is at the same time it is revolving himself. Emperumaan himself as Suriya Bhaghvan revolves round the universe and HE flashes HIS rays to make all things live. From HIS rays, nothing can escape. Sri Pundarikakshan, Bhoomi Piratti, Periya Piratti, Suriyan, Chandiran and Aadisheshan resembles as humans here in this temple and they can be worshipped in the Moolasthanam. Engalaazhvan has written the great "Nadaa Thooram Aalukku Oppatra Pungai Maalai". Nadaathoramaal means a devotee who is having his entire devotion on the ALMIGHTY. The name which has been given Engalaazhvan as "Nadaathooramaal" has a very special story. Every day he used to give milk to Emperumaan. Thinking milk may be hot, he makes it cold by blowing air through his mouth and offers to Emperumaan. On the action of Engalaazhvan as HIS mother and calls him as "Nadaathoorammaal".

The Basics of Uthrayanam and Dhaksinayanam - Like most of the Vishnu Temples, There are two entrances to enter into the Karpagraham worshipped as Moolasthanam, Where the Moolavar is blessing which are named as Utharayana Vaasal and Dhakshanayana Vaasal. The period known as Uthrayanam - From Jan 15 to June 15, the way opened to be used is Utharayanya Vaasal and from the remaining period of another six months is known as Dhaksinayanam and for this period the way Dhakshanaya Vaasal will be opened to be entered. When one Vaasal is opened the other remains closed. We are not suppose to do any good activities in the period of Dhakshinayana Kaalam and all good things like marriages should be done only in the Uthirayanam Period.

But if ncessary the activities can also be done in Dhakshinayana Period and by worshpping Suriya Narayana and start the activity, the work will be completed successfully. Sree Vishnu who is also named as Maayavanat the end of Dhakshinayana Kaalam - Margazhi 15th is named as Thai Maatha Naayagan, at the start of Thai Month - Jan 15th. There is a small explanation that has to be said for the two Vaasals. In the human life, there are two separate entrances, that is entering to the life and getting out of it is the other. In both these Vaasals when entering in to the life and when getting out of it, he could be able to feel the presence of Paramaathma. To make to understand this, HE resembles himself as Suriya Narayananat the state of Utharayanam and as Govindanat the end of Dhakshinayanan, the end of Maargazhi. The Dhakshinayana Vaasal is the entrance which leads us to the death and it is the place of Yama Darman, the King of the Hell. The Uthirayana Vaasal, which is the way that all the Jeevathmas enter into the world as an human and non human beings, is the place of Lord Guberan, who is the God of wealth. It does not matter whether the person is well enough in money or very poor. If he does good activities, they only will lead him towards the Emperumaan. Being good hearted and do the Proper Karmas only will make every one to attain the Heaven. To explain this only, there are two vaasals in the Temples.

The Deities, Theertham and the Vimanam - Udayavar, Sreeman Ramanujar stayed here in Thiruvellarai and explained about Sree Vaishnavam and made it expand. Vedhanda Desihar in his Hamsa Sandesam has done Mangalaasasanam. In front of the big pillar in his temple, when we make any sound, it replicates and echo around the temple. Because of this, some of paasurams in Divyapprabhandhams are hymned for 2 or 3 times. There is a tank called Swastik Tank here, the amazing architecture of this tank is that people taking bath in one side can not see the people who are in other side which illustrates the greatness of the Architecture

Thiruvellarai Pundarikaksha Perumal Temple has a biggest temple wall and it is a Birth place of Bhakthar Uyyakondaar. The temple is situated on top of the Mountain which is fall of white rocks and 100 feet height. The Moolavar of this Sthalam is Pundarikatshan in Standing Posture facing Eastern direction. Prathyaksham for Garudalwar, worshipped as Periya Thiruvadi, Sibi Chakravarthy, Bhoomi Piratti, Maarkandeyar, Lord Brahma Devar and Rudhran. Thayaar here is blessing as Shenbagavalli Thayar. SHE is also worshipped as Peri Piraattiyaar Lakshmi Devi. There is a seperate sannadhi for Thaayar here. Utsavar thaayar is worshipped as Pangajavalli Thayar.

Nirmalya Dharshan and Vaha Chatthu in Guruvayurappan Temple - In Guruvayur, every day in early morning at 03:00 AM, the chief priest opens the main doors of Sreekovil and the ALMIGHTY is awakened with Nadhaswaram and blowing the Conch. The decorations what made in the previous day will be there still upon Lord Guruvayurappan. This darshan is called as “Nirmalya Darshan”. This is the One and Only temple where devotees can worship the ALMIGHTY with the previous day decorations. Then the preist removes the ornamentations and bathes Guruvayurappan with Gingilee Oil, which is later given as Prasadham to the devotees. Then the preist will wipe off the Oil by sprinking Vaha Powder over the the statue of Lord Guruvayurappan, which is called as Vaha Chathu. Then the powder will be removed with the fine brush and the Idol will be cleaned with pure water poured from the DIVINE conch, then followed by “Abishegam”.
