Thirukkurugur Divyadesam - Azhwarthirunagari Adinathan Temple is the birth place of Nammalwar, hence the name "Azhwar Thirunagari" and it is one among the three Divyadesams where the recital of "Araiya Sevai" - an Unique art form of reciting Divya Prabandham is being performed during the festivals. There is a Tamarind Tree inside the temple where "Nammalwar" stayed for 16 years from his childhood without any food and water. He was not even opened his eyes to see as he wanted to see only the Almighty.

There is a separate sanctum for him too. It is believed that Lakshmanan himself was in the form of Tamarind Tree to serve Nammalwar as his place. The Tamarind Tree is being worshipped as "Puliyalwar" and just by sitting under this tree Nammalwar hymend his pasurams on 35 Divyadesams. Once Lord Brahma Devar asked Paranthaman to advise a place to undergo a pennace and in turn the Almighty suggested this place. Since the Almighty himself advised Lord Brahma Devar as His Guru to do a penance here, the place is also called as "Kurugoor". The presiding deity is blessing as Adinathan, Swayambu Murthy in Grand Standing Posture facing East. Thirumanjanam is being performed every day for the Tamarid Tree. Nammalwar is blessing in Shobana Mandapam. When Kambar Peruman a Tamil Poet was about to recite his "Kamba Ramayanam" he wrote “Sadagopar Andadhthi” by keeping down his head towards Nammalwar. Thiruvenkadamudayan Sri Srinivasan, Aranganathan, Ulagaccharyar, Azhagar, Vedantha Desikar, Manavala Maamunigal, Sree Andal can also be worshipped. Another uniqueness is Udayavar Sree Ramanujar is blessing wearing a White Dhoti where as normally he wear only Safron coloured Dhoti. Udaya Nangai has given birth to Nammalwar and the Almighty gave him Gnanam, hence Nammalwar accepted both of them as His Mothers. Hence in all the Nine Temples of Nava Tirupati Divyadesams" Moolavar is blessing with His two Nachiyars.
