The Ledend – Vibheesanan, younger brother of the Demon Ravanan, after attending Sree Rama Pattabishega Celebrations in Ayodhya came down to Sreerangam where he kept the idol of Atanganathan in the Banks of River Cauvery. Due to this incident, He was annoyed a lot and on his way back to his kingdom he came down here to Thiruvanparisaram and offered his prayers to Thirukuralappan. Pleased Almighty appaeared bfore hima and granted a boon. Vibheesahanan requested the Almighty to worship Sree Rama again. It is believed that Lord Maha Vishnu provide His Dharshan as Vibheeshana as Sree Raman. Hence devotees can worship Sree Rama, Sita Devi and Lakshmana to the right of Moolavar here. Thiruvanparisaram is the birth place of Udaya Nayagi, mother of Nammalwar. Being childless she underwent a penance for 41 days as instructed by Thirukurungudi Nambi. As a result Nammalwar was born to her. Once Sapthe Rishis underwent a penance near Suchindram to gave Darshan of Lord Maha Vishnu. But they were redirected by Him to continue their penance here in Thiruvanparisaram and provided His darshan to the seven rishis. After Hiranya Vadham ( Killing of Hiranya Kasibu ) Lord Narsimhan was in an angry mood. To make Him calm down, Mahalakshmi underwent a penance here. Prahaladha requested Lord Narasimhan to search for Goddess and He came down here on his search. By seeing His Consort, HE felt and became Shantha Swaroopi, Mahalakshmi is said to have requested the Almighty to provide her a place in his heart which the Almighty also accepted. As Goddess mahalakshmi resides in His chest here in Thiruvanparisaram, He is being worshipped as Thiru Vaazh Marban. As requested by Hanuman, Sage Ahasthiyar is said to have described the entire story of Ramayanam here for the benefit of the devotees. To mark this event, Devotees can worship Anjaneyar with folded hands addressing Sage Agasthya, who is in a seated posture opposite to him. Vibheeshanan and Kulasekara Azhwar are also seen here.
