|
|
Thiru Pullapoothangudi Divyadesam is one of the Sree Vaishnava Navagraha Parihara Temples Budhan - Mercury parikara Sthalam. Moolavar is being worshipped as Valvil Ramar, blessing in HIS Reclining Posture - The Lying Posture facing East and the Utsavar is worshipped as Raman. Thayar is Hemambuja Valliand Potramaraiyal. Theertham is Jadayu Theertham and the temple Vimanam is known as Shobana Vimanam.
The temple is located just about 10 KM from Kumbakonam and 3 KM from Swamimalai - One of the Six Abodes of Lord Murugan. Thirupullabhoothangudi Divyadesam, whose legendary dates back to Ramayana Period and was well explained by Thirumangai Ahwar in his Periya Thirumozhi. This is the Only Divyadesam where Sri Ramar is blessing in Bala Sayana Posture with four hands holding HIS Bow, the Arrows and in addition to that Sangu and Chakra - The Conch and Discus.
Why the Conch and Chakra in Sriram’s Hand ? – Usually Sri Rama blesses in HIS Standing Posture - Nindra Thiruk Kolam with HIS Bow and Arrows. But here in Thiru Pullabhoothangudi HE is seen in HIS Lying Posture - Kidantha Thiruk Kolam and that too holds additionally the Conch and Chakra alongwith HIS Bow and Arrows in HIS Four Hands. This is the one and only temple where we can see Sri Rama is seen with all HIS ornaments. Sita Devi is not seen as this temple is related to the period when Sree Rama suffered by the abduction of HIS consort Sitadevi by Ravana. Pullabhoodhangudi is the Pithru Parika Sthalam.

Perumal is seen here in Thiru Pullabhoodhangudi along with Lord Brahma in HIS Lotus, Bhoo Devi, Anjaneya and Jadayu in the Sannidhi. After completing the last rites for Jadayu, Sri Rama was resting here under the Punnai Tree. At that time Thirumangai Azhwar came to this place and he was seeing some one was sleeping and not gave any importance to him. Suddenly a BIG Light appeared and Thirumangai Azhwar looked back and saw Sri Ramar with four Hands with his Usual Bow and Arrow as well additionaly a Conch and Chakra. Blessed Thirumangai Azhwar requested the ALMIGHTY to present and bless the devotees in the same form as he was blessed. The orignal moolavar is made of Sudhai. Yoga Narsimmar worshipped as Udyoga Narasimmar here in Thirupullabhoodhangudi is very powerful. Brindhavanam of 19th Jeer is located here.

Melputtoor Naraya Bhattathiri and HIS The Narayaneeyam - Slogas Which Cures Even the Chronic Diseases |
|
In 1560s there was a adherent devotee of Lord Krishna named “Narayana Bhattathiri” lived near the village called “Thirunavaay”. He is an author of the Holy Scriptures “Sree Narayaneeyam“, who hailed from a well known family of “Meppathoor” in Kerala. When he was young, his parent sent him to Gurukulam for mastering in Sanskrit and Vedas. After completing his Gurukulam, he was on a pilgrimage tour for some months. He returned back after a very long time. When he returned he came to know that his guru Achyudha Pisharody was seriously sick and bed ridden. Bhattathiri wanted to help his guru somehow. He went to his guru’s place and asked him what could be the remedy. His guru told him that there was a remedy which his disciples were not ready to do that. Being a affectionate disciple Bhattathiri promised him that he will do the remedy what ever it may be. His guru said that if a young healthy person pray to |

Lord Krishna to takes his sickness will make him healthy and perfect, but the healthy man will become sick severely. Bhattathiri had no shock at all. He accepted and prayed to the ALMIGHTY which made his guru perfect where as Bhattathiri became very sick. He was suffering each and every moment. He was chanting Lord Krishna’s name every second. Finally pleased ALMIGHTY decided to make to write the divine scriptures called “Sree Narayaneeyam”. The day came and the play started. Bhattathiri went to Guruvayur Temple and made his chanting there for so many days. One night in his dream Lord Krishna appeared and asked him to meet a person named “Tunjath Ramanujan”, who was living in a village near Guruvayur. Somehow Bhattathiri managed and with the help of his disciple, reached Ramanujan’s house. But he was shocked as Ramanujan was having alcohol and non vegetarian food along with his friends when Bhattathiri arrived there. He heard everything from Bhattathiri and told him “To Satrt With Fish and then to Continue” as a remedy. Stunned Bhattathiri without saying anything left the place. Being a Brahmin he can not take fish. Without knowing what to do, he went to Guruvayur and cried in front of the ALMIGHTY. Pleased Guruvayurappan told him that Ramanujan never asked him to eat fish but he told to Re-Write Bhagavatha starting from Mathsyavathar - Fish.
Delighted Bhattathiri along with his disciple sat in front of the shrine and started narrating Bhagavatha. After describing the incidents happened during Mathsyavathar, he looked up Guruvayurappan and asked him whether he was right?. Lord Guruvayurappan shacked HIS head and answered him that he was right. Overjoyed Bhattathiri continued his narration which was written by his disciple. When the compilation was going on, every one noticed that Bhattathiri was getting cured slowly. Above all he had a chance to see the darshan of Lord Narasimha in Guruvayur itself, when he was writing about Narasimha Avathar. In few days Bhattathiri complied All 10 incarnations of Lord Krishna and gave the book to the preist to get approved from Lord Guruvayurappan. At that time everyone there heard a roar that the book hereafter would be called as ”Sree Narayaneeyam” and who ever read the book whole heartedly will be blessed. From then “Sree Narayaneeyam” is being recited in Guruvayur every day. To read Sree Narayaneeyam, it has to be split into 7 Equal Parts and to be read part by part for 7 Days either in early morning or late evening (After Sunset or Before Sunrise). On the 7th Day by doing pooja to Lord Guruvayurappan with Butter and Milk as Naivedhyam, Sree Narayaneeyam has to be completed. This chanting procedure of Sree Narayaneeyam is called as “Saptaha”. |
